Frequently Asked Questions

When is SAiL?  SAiL is happening on Monday, May 22rd and Tuesday, May 23th, after the AP exams, before the Seniors' last day.  No regular classes will run on those two days.  SAiL sessions need to meet for at least 12 contact hours.  Those hours can occur any time between Saturday,, May 20th  through Tuesday, May 24th.

Do I have to participate in SAiL? Everyone, including seniors are expected to participate in SAiL. Those two days are treated the same as if there were regular school days. SAiL was specifically scheduled this year so that the seniors could participate and we are hoping that many seniors will be interested in leading sessions and engaging with underclassmen.

When are SAiL Sign Ups? Our goal is to open student sign ups for SAiL during Advisory on Tuesday, February 28th.  Students will sign up using PowerSchool.  During the sign up process, students will need to pick 6 SAiL sessions they would like to participate in.

Can I run a session with a friend?  Yes, most sessions are actually run by a pair of students.

Can I run a session even if I'm not an expert in topic?  Yes.  We encourage students to organize sessions they would be interested in participating in - you don't have to be an expert to plan a session. For example, if you have always wanted to try archery, you could run an archery session and work with a community member or business (such as an archery pro shop).

How many people can be in a SAiL? At least 5 people must be involved for the session to run. We would prefer for multiple grades to be represented in a session.

Can I switch my SAiL session if I don't like my session assignment?  Generally, the answer to this question is no.  Last year more than 80% of students received their first choice of sessions.  A lot of care and attention goes into SAiL assignments.  If several students dropout or change sessions, it can disrupt predetermined session fees and/or reservations made during the planning phase by session leaders.  Make sure you take the sign up process seriously and know exactly which sessions you are requesting.
